Guardianship Scholarship Program

Guardianship Scholarship Support

We created a scholarship fund to help low-income families who need financial assistance to obtain guardianship for their child with special needs. This fund makes the process more accessible and reduces financial barriers for families in our community.

There are two types of guardianship. First, a guardian may be authorized to make decisions about healthcare, shelter, and daily needs. Second, a guardian may be appointed by the court to manage the property of a disabled individual.

As many of our clients transition into adulthood, their need for support continues. Parents and guardians must obtain legal guardianship before their child turns 18. Otherwise, the individual becomes legally responsible for making critical decisions about their own care. Because many clients will always require high levels of support, this step is essential.

Without financial help, families often face stress and uncertainty during this process. That’s why our scholarship fund exists—to ease the burden and ensure families can secure guardianship smoothly. By supporting this fund, we set up both clients and families for long-term success.

Partner with CAE to Provide Scholarships

In Missouri, the average cost to obtain either type of guardianship is between $2,500 and $3,000. For many families, this expense creates a heavy burden.

To ease that strain, we provide partial or full scholarships based on financial eligibility and application criteria. These scholarships give families the support they need while setting students up for success as they transition into post-secondary education. In addition, the financial relief helps reduce stress for both clients and their families.

With your help, we can expand this program and offer even more scholarship opportunities to individuals in need. Together, we can remove barriers and create brighter futures.

We can't do any of this without your help.

Consider donating today, every little bit helps. THANK YOU!
